Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Halfservers LLC (“Halfservers”, “we”, “us”) collects through halfservers.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. We are a small IT consulting team based in Lincoln, Nebraska. We try to collect as little as we can, and this page says plainly what that is.Effective
The short version
- We collect what you type into our contact form or send us by email, and we use it to reply to you and prepare a quote.
- Our Site does not use analytics, advertising trackers or cookies of its own.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing legal@halfservers.com.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, and message, plus your company name, phone number and the type of service you are interested in if you choose to provide them. If you email us directly or message us on Discord, we receive whatever you include.
Please do not send passwords, access keys or other credentials through the form or by email. If we need access to a system to quote or do the work, we will arrange a secure way to do it.
Information collected automatically. The Site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure and block abuse. We do not use this information to build a profile of you.
Information stored on your device. If you switch between the light and dark theme, the Site remembers your choice in your browser’s local storage. That setting stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Discord. Our contact page embeds a widget from Discord that shows our public server. When that page loads, your browser connects to Discord, which may receive your IP address and set its own cookies. Discord’s handling of that information is covered by the Discord Privacy Policy, not this one. If you join our Discord server, what you post there is visible to other members.
How we use your information
- To reply to your inquiry, answer questions and prepare a written quote.
- To send you a one-time confirmation email that we received your message.
- To provide the services you hire us for, under our separate written agreement with you.
- To keep the Site secure and prevent spam and abuse, including limiting how often the form can be submitted.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site and communicate with you, and only as needed for that purpose:

Messages sent to contact@halfservers.com are delivered to mail servers that we operate ourselves.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business, in which case the new owner would be bound by this policy for information collected under it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising.
How long we keep it
- Technical request logs are kept by our hosting provider for no more than 7 days.
- Inquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 1 month, then deleted.
- If you become a client, we keep your information until our contract with you is complete, then delete it. The only exception is billing and tax records, which we keep for as long as the law requires.
How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the Site and the form, limit access to the people who need it, and apply the same security practices we use for client systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Work we do on your systems
When you hire us to build, administer or support your systems, we may have access to data stored in them, including personal information about your customers or staff. We handle that data only on your instructions and to perform the work, under the terms of our written agreement with you. This policy covers the information we collect about you through the Site, not the data inside systems we manage for you.
Your choices and rights
You can email legal@halfservers.com at any time to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you,
- correct information that is wrong,
- ask us to delete it, or
- ask us to stop contacting you.
We will respond within 45 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep some information where the law requires it. Depending on the state you live in, you may have additional rights under that state’s privacy law, including the right to appeal a decision we make about your request. To appeal, reply to our decision with “Appeal” in the subject line and we will respond within 60 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
The Site does not track you across other websites and does not run advertising or analytics trackers, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. We honor both signals by default in the sense that no cross-site tracking takes place.
Children
The Site is meant for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where your information is processed
We are based in the United States, and our providers process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and handled in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will tell you before it applies to you. Our Terms of Use cover the rest of how the Site may be used.
